Upon entering his twelfth month on Planet Earth, our
Sun Baby is still oftentimes hiding in the back, but making his presence
known more and more. When a storm hits the Netherlands, Esther-Mirjam
does what lots of crazy Dutch people do on such an occasion, she goes
to the beach. After a walk along the beach in Scheveningen (row below,
left), Lior gets to visit the aquarium "Sea Life" (row below,
right). And lucky for the Sent clan, Ome Bob and Tante Edna, who live
close to Scheveningen, happen to be home afterwards and kindly offer
them dinner (row below, middle). If you look carefully, you can see
Lior hiding in every picture. |

When Opa Ben and Oma Alie celebrate
their twentyfifth wedding anniversary, they treat their children and
grandchildren to an afternoon tea (left). At first, Lior sits on the
small table, but he gets moved after almost kicking over this table.
Such a strong baby, eh?! |
Lior is lucky to end up sitting next
to Tante Daan, for she takes very good care of her young nephew (right).
She makes sure that he eats his bread and drinks his milk. As you can
see, it does not look like Lior has skipped many meals! |

One of the joys of living with an older sister is
that she does things that you like to watch. Here Lior is admiring the
bubbles that Luna blows (row below). |

Now that he is able to sit, the next developmental
step for our young man is to stand. He does so on rare occasions, for
instance when he is able to hold on to his play pen (row below). There
is no hurry, really, for he will be able to stand eventually. |

When our poor Sun Baby falls
asleep in his play pen twice in one week, mom decides it is time to
put him to bed earlier at night (row below). Indeed, he usually needs
to be woken up in the morning. Best of all, he is sleeping through the
night. That is, as much as it pains Esther-Mirjam, she has decided she
cannot jump out of bed at every sound from Lior's room because he really
needs to learn to sleep through the night. |

Swimming continues to be the high point
of the week for the extended Sent clan. As you can see, Lior feels quite
at ease in the water (row above). When Oma Alie has an injured finger,
she is able to take some pictures, so mom can also be seen on the website
of her son (left) and so Opa Ben gets an opportunity to swim with his
grandson (right). A good time is had by all besides Oma Alie, who is
rushed to the hospital the next day with a bacterial infection. Fortunately,
she is back home and recovering well. |

Almost every Saturday, the Sent clan
can be found having fun at an aquarium, a zoo, or something like that.
This time, they visit Burgers' Zoo in Arnhem (middle right). Amazingly,
the big stroller fits into the back of the car. Unsurprisingly, Luna
much prefers to walk.Fortunately, Lior no longer has to lie flat so
he gets to enjoy looking around during the visits (far right). |

When Lior visits the Youth
Health Bureau (left), he weighs in at 9,480 grams (roughly 20.9 US pounds)
and measures 73 centimeters (roughly 28.74 inches). This is still a
little below average, but increasing along the curve. He is commended
for his fine motor and vocal skills. Also, his efforts at crawling,
standing, and walking are applauded. Lior receives two shots, but does
not show any signs of noticing these. What a baby!

Now that our young man is almost a year old, there
are hardly any remaining restrictions on his diet. Mom wonders what
her son thinks of a banana that is not mashed. As you can see, he quite
likes it (row above, left, and right). Indeed, the best thing about
the banana, as far as Lior is concerned, is the mess one can make with
it. |

When Aafke forgets her phone in Nijmegen, Lior is
happy to return it to her in Apeldoorn. This also gives him the opportunity
to hang out with his oldest three sisters, Aafke (row below, left),
Sanne (row below, middle), and Lenneke (row below, right). They, in
return, love to play with their youngest brother. |

For Easter, Lior gets into the bicycle trailer and
goes for a long bike ride with Albert, Luna, and mama. Along the way,
he discovers a lovely cafe/restaurant, Sprok, with a beautiful view
of the city of Nijmegen across the Waal river. If only mama had remembered
to take a picture of it! When making a stop at the restaurant (row below,
middle), Esther-Mirjam discovers that she has forgotten Lior's bib,
but finds something else that will do the trick for her little cowboy
(row below, left and right). It almost looks as if he is posing, eh?! |

Hip, Hip, Hurray! Mom is trying to make the poor birthday boy look festive by having him wear a hat. As you can see, Lior does not find this hat all that festive (row below). |

The house is decorated with festive
flags and birthday balloons (far left) and a delicious birthday cake
awaits the arrival of the guests (middle left). |
Lior gets his very own birthday cake
with one candle (middle right). He does not yet understand that one
is supposed to blow out the candle instead of trying to grab it. Fortunately,
his sister Aafke is nearby to make sure Lior does not hurt himself.
She also watches as Lior makes a mess of his cake (far right). |

Lots of guests come over, including
Albert, Opa Ben, Oma Alie, Oma Naatje, Han, Anneke, Tante Astrid, and
Opa Tano (far left). Tante Daphne, Sebastiaan, Ome Arno, Michelle, and
Karine are not pictured because they arrived later. Unfortunately, Tante
Daan and Ome Geert are ill. Lior is lucky to receive very many special
presents (middle left). |
Mom is showing the special presents
to Lior (middle right). However, it almost seems as if mom is more excited
about the presents than her young son is (far right). |

Now that Luna and Esther-Mirjam have
gotten used to the new addition to the Sent family, they find it impossible
to imagine life without him. Luna loves her little brother, and is happy
to sing lots of birthday songs for him (far left)! Esther-Mirjam is
especially pleased that Lior now sleeps through the night and no longer
suffers from colds (middle left). Overall, Lior is a very easy-going
young man who exchanges many smiles with his mom and youngest sister. |

Lior goes to Apeldoorn to celebrate his birthday
with papa, who takes him for a walk (row above, left) and hangs out
the flag to celebrate his son's birthday (row above, right). Lior receives
wonderful presents from papa, Lenneke, Sanne, and Ruben (row above,
middle). He is also treated to a delicious dinner with Luna, papa, Ruben,
and Lenneke (left) and gets to open his own presents under the watchful
eye of papa and Sanne (right). |
