Nineteenth Month of Lior Sent

As he enters his nineteenth month on Planet Earth, our Sun Toddler knows how to entertain those lucky enough to get to spend time with him by means of lots of cheeky faces (row below). All in all, he is a very happy and sweet young man.
Lior is learning which gestures go along with which parts of which songs (row below). His favorite is "Tsjoe tsjoe wa," for then he gets to stick his tongue out of his mouth!

One of the joys of having an older sister is that she can accompany you on rides at the fair. As a result, Lior gets to enjoy the merry-go-round (row below, left), a boat ride (row below, middle), and a drive in the car (row below, right).
All this fun is making it hard for our young man to stay awake during lunch. He falls asleep in the middle of eating his sandwich and drinking his milk (left). And when Oma Naatje carries him upstairs to put him in bed, he does not wake up (right). Instead, he has a good, long sleep.
When mama has to go to Hilversum to be interviewed for a radio show, Lior gets to listen to her on Opa Tano's computer (row above, left). And Oma Naatje takes him to the playground in Spijk (row above, middle), where he gives Opa Tano and Luna a ride (row above, right). The slide is his favorite (left) and he shows no fear when climbing (right). Indeed, fear is not part of little Lior's vocabulary!
When Opa Ben and Oma Alie come over to spend a day with Lior and his sister, they usually go grocery shopping in the morning and visit the petting zoo in the afternoon. There, Lior enjoys sitting on the teeter-totter (left, top) and driving the tractor with his sister (left, middle). All this fun is making him very thirsty, and his sister is more than happy to share her drink with him (left, bottom). Lior does not seem to realize that he is smaller than his sister and therefore unable to climb onto the slide by himself (right, top). And he does not seem to realize that the piece of wood is meant for chicken to enter the chicken house and not for little boys to do so (right, middle). Petting the sheep leaves a big smile on our sweet boy's face (right, bottom).
Lior goes swimming every Thursday morning. There is little he does not enjoy in the pool (row below, left). And there seems little his mom does not enjoy in the pool either (row below, right). Of course, Lior's sister also comes along every Thursday morning (row below, middle).
When Aafke comes over for a visit on a sunny fall Saturday, she comes along to the Brakkefort playground, where she goes for a scooter ride with her young brother (row below, left and right). And she is happy to push Lior while he is sitting on the swing (row below, middle).
The playground is definitely Lior's favorite hangout. When Aafke and mama go to a concert, Opa Ben and Oma Alie take him to a playground in Doesburg (row below, left and right). And after all this fun, it is time to relax on Opa Ben's lap (row below, middle).
Luna goes to gym for toddlers every Friday afternoon and Lior comes along (top left), for he very much enjoys following his big sister's example (top right). The two crawl through a tunnel (middle left and middle right) and walk on the balance beam (bottom left and bottom right). The gym class always closes with the "dikke duim" song (row below, middle). When the (grand)parents put away the aparatus, the children wait patiently while enjoying something to drink (row below, left and right).
When Opa Tano and Oma Naatje borrow mom's car, Luna and Lior take the train to Spijk to celebrate Oma Naatje's birthday and pick up their car. Luna is intrigued by the whole experience (middle right) and Lior sits quietly in the backpack throughout the trip (far right). Here you can see his reflection in the train door.
When Luna and Lior misbehave during Oma Naatje's birthday, they are put in the dog house (left). To be honest, they climbed into it by themselves. To be fair, they were vey well behaved during the birthday celebration!
Lior is a stellar sleeper ... most of the nights, that is. After having read his book, where the car is his favorite image, he stands in bed while singing "la, la" (row below, left), gets a kiss, and lies down (row below, middle), where he loves to hug his sheet (row below, right).
Hip, Hip, Hurray!
Nineteen months old!

Time sure flies when you are a happy toddler. Lior spends quality time with papa at least once and often twice a week (left). However, he sometimes has a hard time staying awake during papa's visit (right).
