Twentyfirst Month of Lior Sent

As he enters his twentyfirst month on Planet Earth, our Sun Boy continues his entertainment efforts. This time, he gets lots of good laughs wearing a pair of glasses that sure look good on our young man (row below).
And if the glasses are not enough to get you laughing, how about a funny hairdo (right)? To be honest, Oma Alie is responsible to Lior's new look.
Traditionally, in the weeks between the arrival of Sinterklaas and the 5th of December, before going to bed, children leave a carrot in a shoe as well as some water for Sinterklaas's horse (far left), sing a Sinterklaas song (middle left), and will find a present in the shoe the next day. Luna and Lior love this Dutch tradition!
While Luna and Lior are asleep, Zwarte Piet sneaks into the house and leaves presents their shoes (middle right). The next morning, they are very excited about the Sinterklaas and Christmas DVDs that they got (far right).
Lior also joins the Sinterklaas celebration at papa's house in Apeldoorn, along with four of his sisters as well as his big brother (row below, left). Sinterklaas gives him a Tik-Tak DVD that Lior enjoys very much (row below, middle). After all the poems have been read and presents have been unwrapped, Lior enjoys a delicious dinner with Ruben and Sanne (row below, right).
Luna and Lior certainly do not want to cooperate when it comes to having their pictures taken wearing christmas hats (row below). Either they both cover their heads with the hats. Or only one is looking at the camera. Or one is looking sad. Or one is looking silly. Or one is eating. Or one has closed eyes. The possibilities are endless, but do not seem to include Luna and Lior both looking happily into the camera! Fortunately, Christmas is a few weeks off, so there is plenty of time to keep trying....
All by himself and with the help of Opa Ben, Lior does not do much better posing wearing a christmas hat (row below).
One of the side benefits of Luna's fourth birthday, is that Lior gets to play with the presents she receives (left and right). His big sister is (usually) very generous about sharing her toys with Lior.
Playing with Opa Ben is also lots of fun (row below). Lior's favorite game involves quickly pushing over the towers that Opa Ben patiently builds.
When Luna and Lior go shopping downtown Nijmegen, there is also some time for play (row below). They are very lucky to have each other!
Lior continues to be a very happy little toddler (row below). He is starting to understand that he can manipulate the behavior of those around him, but his terrible twos are still a few months off!
When Aafke finds out that she does not have to work during a weekday, she comes over to spend time with Luna and Lior, and to take a few funny pictures (row below). Luna and Lior are very grateful to Aafke for making such an effort to be with them.
The contents of the block container are much less fun than the container itself, which can be used as a chair (row below, left), a hat (row below, middle), and a step (row below, right).
When the day care center has a Christmas celebration, Luna and Lior make Christmas cards with the help of papa (row below, left). That is, they are more interested in the process than the product! Meanwhile, all the parents brought goodies (row below, middle). First, however, some Christmas carols are sung (row below, right).
Our Christmas cards are a little delayed, so here is a sneak preview for you, with apologies for the hard copy arriving late!
The holidays give the Sent clan the opportunity to spend quality time with their friends and family. Oma Alie joins them for a Christmas breakfast (row below, middle). And they visit Angeline, Michiel, and their children in Amsterdam (row below, left), as well as Elda, Paul, and their children in Oldenzaal (row below, right). Angeline was Esther-Mirjam's editor-in-chief for a magazine with logical puzzles. And Elda was Esther-Mirjam's fellow student in high school. The Sent clan is very generously invited to their dinner tables.
The holidays also mean spending quality time on the couch, reading with Tante Daan (far left) and watching television with Lennart and Anne in Oldenzaal (middle left).
And the holidays are good for lots of cuddles, from Victoria (middle right) and from Luna and Oma Alie (far right). Lior is getting better and better at making himself clear. When he is put in bed, he says: "Nee, slapen." It has been a restless time, with naps in mom's car and getting home late. Life will return to normal again (too) soon.
Luna loves to dress up as a princess, and Lior figures he might as well follow his big sister's example (left). He walks up to mom with a princess skirt in his hands and asks her to put it on. Fully dressed, Luna and Lior watch a princess show on television. Let's hope Lior will not be upset with his mom when he grows up!

Hip, Hip, Hurray!
Twenty-one months old!

With the New Year's Eve celebrations, one would almost forget that our sweet boy turns twenty-one months old! He spends most of the day eating oliebollen (literally oil balls), which is a traditional Dutch food eaten on New Year's Eve. Sometimes it is referenced in English as Dutch donut. Lior does not care what oliebollen are called, he just likes to eat them!
