Twentysixth Month of Lior Sent

What better way to spend a lazy Saturday afternoon than visiting Het Land van Jan Klaassen? Something like this must be going through our Sun Child's mind as he enters his twentysixth month on Planet Earth. That is, there is no such thing as a lazy time for our active young man, who enjoys going for train rides in the park with his mom and youngest sister (row below).
Going down the slide the normal way is much less fun than going down on one's tummy (left).
And doing down the slide by oneself is much less fun than going down with one's sister or mom (right).
And biking by oneself is much less fun than going for a bike ride with mom (left). Indeed, mom seems to enjoy it almost more than her sweet son!
While Lior sits back and enjoys the show, Luna and Esther-Mirjam are busy biking. Boy, this is fun (left).
After all this fun, Lior has plenty of energy left to crawl up and down play structures (left).
When mom is in Beijing for a workshop, Sanne and Aafke take their little brother to the zoo. From the comfort of Sanne's arms, he admires the zebras and elephants (right).
For Lior, watching the animals in the zoo is almost less fun than playing with Sanne's sunglasses (left).
For Sanne and Aafke, watching the animals in the zoo is almost less fun than watching their little brother having so much fun in the zoo (right).
With all this fun, it is time for a little break to have something to drink and to cuddle with Aafke (left).
There is nothing in the zoo that Lior does not enjoy, but the underwater animals are clearly his favorite (right).
Thank you, Sanne and Aafke for spending such a fun day with your happy little brother (left).
While mom gets to enjoy a "star-rated toilet" in Beijing, Aafke gets to enjoy taking care of Lior (middle right). That is, she does not enjoy the present that he leaves for her in the backyard (far right). Inspired by her visit to Beijing, mom is considering an upgrade of the Sent toilet.

To continue on the "pooping issue," Lior does a very naughty and very nice thing. The naughty thing is going poo-poo next to the potty while his mom is preparing his bath. The nice thing is going pee-pee on the potty after asking his mom to be put on the potty. What a boy!

One of the nice things about having an older sister is that you get to play with her friends. Here, Lior getting a ride on the teeter-totter with Luna and her friend Isis (right).
One of the nice things about the weather turning better, is that Lior goes on day trips. Here, he visits the Dolfinarium, an aquarium. Lior watches on as Aafke and Luna pet the rays (far left). And he is not excited about the walrusses splashing the audience (middle left).
The best thing about the Dolfinarium, really, is that it has a big play ground (right). Going down the slides, climbing on the play structures, and playing in the sand is really much more fun than watching the fish, as far as Lior is concerned.
Another nice thing about the weather turning better, is that Lior gets to enjoy watermelon (left). Much like his sister Luna, he loves to eat watermelon. Who cares that the watermelon is almost bigger than our young man?
And the nice weather gives Lior the opportunity to play in the outside kiddy pool (row below). One thing that he does not understand, though, is that the pool is for water and not for sand from the sand box, and that the sand box is for sand and not for water from the pool. Ah, life could be so much more fun if mom were not so strict!
You may have noticed that it was high time for Lior to get a haircut. Mom kept postponing it, because the last cut was not enjoyed by our young man, to put it mildly. This time he gets distracted by a DVD and quietly sits though the whole ordeal (row below). The result is one adorable looking boy.
Another nice thing about having an older sister is that you get to participate in the first part of her dance class (row below). The two move so quickly, that mom is unable to get a good picture of her two dancing darlings (row below, right).
For his next day trip, Lior goes to the Apenheul in Apeldoorn (row above, middle), along with Sanne (row above, right) and papa (top right). Again, Lior enjoys the play ground much more than watching the monkeys (row above, left). And the food and drink are pretty good, too (left, top and bottom). After the fun day at the Apenheul, Lior gets to go to McDonald's for the first time in his young life (bottom right). Here, the toy is much more fun than the food. That is, it is in close competition with the slide at McDonald's!

Hip, Hip, Hurray!
Twentysix Months Old!

Listening to Lior speak, he seems much older than twentysix months. He speaks in grammatically correct sentences containing many words. At the same time, two-year-olds are supposed to be able to make two-word sentences. Long before turning two, he already uttered a, grammatically incorrect, five-word sentence: "Ikke ook, lust niet meer" ("Me too, no more food").
